From: Photo Flash: THE TIN WOMAN Celebrates Chicago Premiere at Theatre at the Center
A strong cast presents an excellent Unicorn production of a very new play, Bernhardt/Hamlet, A Woman Unbounda by Theresa Rebeck. Bernhardt/Hamlet is a smart, comedic, reasonably accurate portrait of a middle-aged, financially strapped, giant of the nineteenth century French stage still with her powers intact, but with a paucity of mountains she still desires to climb.
Audiences and critics filled the house for the Opening Night of The Tin Woman at Theatre at the Center (TATC) on Sunday, July 16. This was the Chicagoland premiere of Sean Grennan's newest play starring Erin Noel Grennan in the lead role. The Jeff Recommended play The Tin Woman continues its run at TATC through August 13. The hilarious comedy, Bad Jews, about death, family, identity, and faith opened Saturday on the Jerome Stage of the Unicorn Theatre. Bad Jews the dark comedy written by Joshua Harmon and directed by Cynthia Levin follows three cousins in a battle over an heirloom.
Bad Jews is a new comedy about Daphna who reunites with her cousins on the day of their grandfather's funeral in the Upper West Side of New York City. When her cousin brings home his non-Jewish girlfriend, a hilarious brawl ensues over a family heirloom. Bad Jews is a thoughtful comedy that tackles love, death, betrayal, the definition of family, and the evolution of contemporary American Judaism. It's about what you choose to believe, when you're chosen.
