Eric Rosen, artistic director of Kansas City Repertory Theatre, has announced a major change in its 2013-14 season line up, beginning with the removal of One Night with Janis Joplin from the schedule. The musical tribute, based on the life and music of the late Janis Joplin, written and directed by Randy Johnson, was to have its pre-Broadway production at Spencer Theatre, September 20-October 13. The show's producers have decided instead that it will go directly to the Lyceum Theatre in New York, where performances will begin September 20.

A full refund or trade to another Rep production is available to anyone who has already purchased tickets specifically to see One Night with Janis Joplin. Please call the Rep's box office at 816-235-2700 for details.

THE FOREIGNER - NEW DATES
October 17-November 3, Spencer Theatre

Moving into the fall schedule is the comedy The Foreigner, directed by the Rep's producing director Jerry Genochio, who also directed last season's critically acclaimed American Buffalo. The Foreigner was originally scheduled for spring 2014, but will now run October 17-November 3, at Spencer Theatre.

The action in The Foreigner revolves around Charlie Baker, his friend Froggy and a fishing lodge in rural Georgia. To give Charlie much-needed peace and quiet, Froggy convinces the locals that Charlie doesn't understand English. The plan backfires when the lodge's inhabitants reveal deep secrets and diabolical plans in front of their quiet guest, resulting in hilarious misunderstandings and an outrageously funny climax.

AFTER ROBERT HUTCHENS - WORLD PREMIERE
April 11-May 11, Copaken Stage

The Rep will produce the world premiere of After Robert Hutchens, a new musical with book, music and lyrics by Nick Blaemire and directed by Sheryl Kaller (2010 Tony Award nomination for Next Fall). After Robert Hutchens will run April 11-May 11 at Copaken Stage.

Two brothers, reunited at their mother's funeral, discover her personal letters to and from a man who is not their father, which sparks their journey to find her true love. New understandings of family, relationships, and honesty form the heart of this touching new musical from one of America's most promising young playwrights.

Blaemire's credits include the national tour of Altar Boyz, an Off-Broadway musical spoof of boy bands, the original Broadway cast of Cry-Baby, based on the John Waters' film, and Glory Days, which he also wrote. He is the youngest person ever to have his own musical running on Broadway (Glory Days) while simultaneously performing in another (Cry-Baby). His acting credits also include "The Good Wife" (CBS), "Zero Hour" (ABC) and "The Big C" (USA).
