Lawrence Arts Center Announces Upcoming Classes and Events

The large red statue in front of the Lawrence Arts Center is your first clue that a very special exhibit is going on inside! Paintings, photography, prints and sculptures by acclaimed local artist Jan Gaumnitz will be featured in both LAC Galleries through December 18th. Learn more about Jan here!

The Lawrence Arts Center Galleries are open during normal business hours (9am-9pm Monday-Saturday and 9am-5pm Sunday); however, there are times when the Arts Center schedule may be altered. If you are making a special trip to see an exhibit, please call ahead (785/843-2787) to make sure the building will be open.
Fiesta Cultural (A Celebration of Spanish & Latin American Music)

On Wednesday, November 4th at 7:30pm, the Lawrence Arts Center welcomes a variety of artists in this concert for the Educational Opportunity Scholarship Fund to benefit first generation, low-income students at KU. Performers include vocalists Genaro Méndez, Olivia Betzen, Katie Bieber, William Muñoz-Aponte; pianists Nathan Salazar, Yara Gutkin de Freitas, Charles Badami, Daniel Cunha, Evangelos Spanos, Kent Queener, Eliud Vásquez; and percussionists and brass players Miguel Rivera-Ramírez, Fernando Mercano, David Ferneau, and Orlando Ruíz.

This concert is free and open to the public, although donations will be accepted.
Choreography Festival

Dancers and choreographers are sure to find something special at this newly expanded weekend-long event. Master classes, two showcases, and a talk by the legendary Liz Lerman are just some of the events awaiting the attendees from November 6th-8th! Click here for the complete schedule.

The public is invited to attend both the Adjudicated Showcase concert Friday, November 6th at 7:30pm and the Open Showcase concert Saturday, November 7th at 3:30pm. Tickets for the Adjudicated Showcase are $13.50 for adults and $6.50 for students and seniors; tickets for the Open Showcase are $5.50.
