Eric Rosen, artistic director of Kansas City Repertory Theatre, is extending a special invitation to veterans and military on active duty to attend a free performance of one of the most important plays of the decade, Marc Wolf's powerful Another American: Asking and Telling, which examines the military's recently-repealed "Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy."

"Until just a few weeks ago, active duty military personnel who even attended performances of Another American: Asking and Telling could fear being ‘outed' and face a possible dishonorable discharge. Last month, history changed, and now service members are freed from those concerns," said Rosen. "Because of the timing of our production and the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," the Rep is the only theatre in the country where audiences can see this brilliant, life-changing play at this critical moment in history."

The free performance for the military is at 8 p.m., Saturday, January 15, at Spencer Theatre, 4949 Cherry Street, Kansas City, MO. To reserve a seat, call the box office at 816-235-2700 and be prepared to show proof of military status to the box office agent when picking up tickets.

Another American: Asking and Telling runs January 14-February 6 (preview week is January 14-20) at Spencer Theatre in the James C. Olson Performing Arts Center on the UMKC campus. Tickets are $20-$60. Please contact the Rep Box Office at 816-235-2700 or visit www.KCRep.org for information about performance times and ticket options. Another American: Asking and Telling is supported by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Now in its 46th season, Kansas City Repertory Theatre is its region's only member of the League of Resident Theatres (LORT) and serves as the professional theatre in residence at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC). The Rep produces mainstage plays and special events at Spencer Theatre on the UMKC campus and Copaken Stage located in downtown Kansas City. Kansas City Rep employs more than 250 professional artists, technicians and administrators, and serves more than 100,000 patrons annually.
