Kansas City Repertory Theatre opens its 48th season with the Tony Award-nominated musical Pippin, which features a score by Grammy-winner Stephen Schwartz and book by Roger O. Hirson. The Rep's artistic director Eric Rosen will direct the musical, which runs September 14-October 7 in Spencer Theatre. BroadwayWorld has a preview of the rehearsal footage below.

Pippin is an extraordinary tale of self discovery in which a young prince searches for meaning and purpose in his life. Along the way, his adventures acquaint him with the unfamiliar worlds of politics, betrayal, war and, eventually, love.

The cast of Pippin includes musical theatre performers from Kansas City and New York, including Claybourne Elder, Katie Gilchrist, Jennie Greenberry, John Hickok, Katie Kalahurka, Gil Perez-Abraham, Jr., Wallace Smith, and Mary Testa.

The Pippin creative team includes: Choreographer Chase Brock, Music Director and Orchestrator Curtis Moore, Set Designer Jack Magaw, Costume Designer Alison Heryer, Lighting Designer: Jason Lyons, and Sound Designer: Zachary Williamson.

Pippin runs September 14 – October 7, 2012, at Spencer Theatre located at 4949 Cherry Street in Kansas City, MO.
